Pyramid Mountain Lumber is fortunate to have John Manz, a professional forestry
consultant with nearly 50 years of education and experience directly in the
practice of forest management, on its board of directors.
John’s strengths are in forest operations, operational risk management,
production systems, applied technology, and management processes. His breadth
of expertise in these areas is a valuable resource to Pyramid Mountain Lumber
and his insightful contributions are recognized and valued.
John immerses himself in the forestry field not only in his professional capacity
as a consultant but through many, many hours of involvement in associations
throughout the state and country. The following are examples of the numerous
entities that benefit from John’s leadership: Evergreen Foundation, Pacific
Logging Congress, Clearwater Stewardship Project, Northern Region Stewardship
Project, Forest Resources Association, Oklahoma Forestry Association, Society
of American Foresters, Montana Logging Association, Forestry Advisory Board
at Paul Smith’s College, and the Forest History Society.
In addition to his decades of working in the field of forestry, John served
as an infantry officer and naval aviator in the U.S. Marine Corps. He continues
his service through naval and Marine Corps associations. John is also extremely
active in building new leaders for tomorrow through the Boy Scouts of America,
providing local mentorship to young adults in addition to leadership roles on
a number of statewide boards and councils.
